SKILLED AND EMPLOYER SPONSORED VISAS

There are three main kinds of skilled visas for entry to Australia.
1. General Skilled Migration (GSM), otherwise known as "Points Tested Visas". An applicant for a GSM visa must meet the following requirements:

a. Obtain a positive skills assessment from an Australian skills assessment body, for an occupation specified in the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). This means that an Australian organisation (not DIAC) must assess your skills and qualifications obtained overseas as meeting Australian standards.

b. Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) in migrating to Australia with DIAC's online system. If you have a positive skills assessment, obtain sponsorship from a State or Territory (if required) and meet the point test, you will be invited to apply for a visa.

c. In some cases, you may also need to apply for sponsorship from an Australian State of Territory.

d. After receiving your invitation, apply for the visa.

2. Employer-Sponsored Visas,which require a job offer in Australia. Employer-sponsored visas can be permanent or temporary, but they all they all require you to have a job offer in an occupation specified on the SOL, paid at a salary comparable to Australian workers in the same profession. Your employer must also have been approved by DIAC before your visa can be granted. I can assist you with this process.

3. Business skills visas, which require you to demonstrate that you have experience in running a business overseas, and have a minimum amount of capital to invest in an Australian business (either an existing business or start-up). You will also be required to show that your business will provide employment to Australian citizens or permanent residents (although not necessarily immediately).
